Tips & Tricks

Design Tips

  • Start Small: Begin with 20x20 grids to learn the basics
  • Use Grid Lines: Keep grid lines visible for precise placement
  • Preview Often: Regularly zoom out to see your overall design
  • Save Frequently: Save your work regularly to avoid losing progress
  • Plan Ahead: Sketch your design on paper first for complex patterns

Color Management Tips

  • Limit Colors: Fewer colors often create more impactful designs
  • Test Contrasts: Ensure colors are distinct enough for visibility
  • Consider Yarn: Choose colors that match available yarn shades
  • Use Color Theory: Complementary colors create dynamic patterns
  • Build Palettes: Create cohesive color schemes before designing

Image Conversion Tips

  • High Contrast Images: Work best for automatic conversion
  • Simple Shapes: Clean, geometric designs convert more accurately
  • Avoid Gradients: Solid color areas work better than gradual transitions
  • Consider Size: Match image aspect ratio to your desired grid proportions
  • Edit After Import: Always review and refine automatically converted patterns

Performance Tips

  • Grid Size Limits: Very large grids (100x100+) may slow performance
  • Save Regularly: Backup your work to prevent data loss
  • Clear Browser Cache: If experiencing issues, clear cache and reload
  • Use Modern Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari work best
  • Close Other Tabs: Free up memory for better performance

Troubleshooting

  • Pattern Won't Save: Check your internet connection and try again
  • Image Won't Upload: Ensure file is JPG, PNG, or GIF under 10MB
  • Colors Look Different: Monitor settings can affect color appearance
  • Grid Too Small: Increase grid size before adding complex details
  • Performance Issues: Try reducing grid size or closing other applications
